Inclusivity & Diversity

A study by Deloitte from 2017 found that over two-thirds of businesses cited diversity and inclusion to be a priority for their business (Schwartz et al., 2017). To be inclusive is to mean that everyone is welcome and feels like they belong, this is challenging to achieve even in diverse workforces. According to the LSE, ‘inclusion occurs when all voices are heard in equal measure and all team members actively listen to one another’.

The benefits of inclusive organisations are much talked about, they are three times more likely to perform well financially, twice as likely to meet or exceed targets and are six times more likely to be innovative (Deloitte, 2018). Yet, billions of pounds are spent worldwide every year on DEI training that is having little effect in positively moving the needle (Hancock & Williams, 2021).

Being a diverse employer does not mean you have an inclusive environment, in the same way that being a “nice boss” or socially responsible doesn’t automatically make you an inclusive leader. To achieve a truly inclusive culture and environment requires time, structure, commitment and creativity.

With expertise and experience, we can review the levels of inclusivity and diversity in your organisation, following the six stages of the employee lifecycle and focusing on the key areas, with your guidance:

We work with tried and tested methodologies and interventions to ensure that an inclusive mindset cascades throughout your business and that all staff, not just those with managerial responsibility, take ownership and feel empowered to be a part of an inclusive culture.
